"By parodying sumptuous upholstery and rich textured fabrics which even when old and sagging suggest comfort and luxury, I use porcelain to make functional vessels for the home such as jugs and vases."
"There is a contrast between the soft pillow forms of the fabric and the cold unyielding nature of the porcelain. Simplicity of form balances the rich surfaces and is enhanced by the whiteness and translucency of the clay and by using only transparent glaze. The imprints of my fingers are left on the interiors of the pots to affirm the presence of the maker in each piece. "

These beautiful works come from up in the air somewhere, Chicago-based artist and designer Susan Dwyer. the designer said :"inspired by the clean, minimal lines found in industrial architecture. The silos, warehouses and watertowers that dot the Chicago landscape are transformed into elegant vases, votives and planters. ” designer has became " translator " between industrial architecture and handmade works.
Maybe we also could say designers just like translators, not in different languages, but in a wide spectrum of elements from materials, concepts, abstract idear to the final works.

很喜欢荷兰设计师Jorine的作品：Tea Time，很可爱，也很像外星人使用的瓷器，哈哈。设计师说自己的“作品像独立存在的生命一样，拥有自己的个性和特征，有时，它们就像是来自童话世界里一样。这些作品也让哦我们觉得像是生活在另一个世界。”

Love the collection of Tea Time from Dutch designer Jorine. very cute and lovely, much like the tablewares that used by extra-terrestrial,hahaha:P the designer said "Working mainly in ceramics / porcelain. My products becom e characters, like individual things that seem to live their own life. They have their own identity and personality. Sometimes they seem to come from a fairytale-world. Products making us feel like being in a different world. "

Breaking the Mould: New Approaches to Ceramics

采访Kjell 的时候知道了这本书，里面有些熟知的设计师，像CJ 和Christin Jonansson等等，就像很多传统手工艺一样，瓷器在过去几十年里发生了很大的改变，而今，陶瓷设计已经包含多种多样的形式，像普遍的功能物件设计，或是前卫的装置艺术，或是回归传统的形式，设计师和手艺人正在打破瓷器的形式，技术与概念的界限，探索更多种多样的形式变化。
挪威，瑞士，丹麦，英国都有很多独立的陶瓷设计师，他们的作品带有很明显的实验性质，无论是从形式还是其表现上。而在国内，有关现代陶瓷的设计似乎很少，前段时间很受关注的谢东算是将骨瓷做现代表现的艺术家之一，其他的我倒是很少见了，为什么在所谓的发源地很少看到现代瓷器的作品？

I knew this book when interviewed Kjell, the content include some designers that i have known or interviewed,like cj and Christin Jonansson etc. as many traditional crafts, Ceramics have changed in many aspects in past years, various of activities ,from object-making to installations compose modern ceramics scene. designers and artists are pushing the boundaries of design form, both in technique and conception, to explore more possibility of ceramics.
there are many ceramics designers or artists in Norway,Denmark ,or UK, their works show the clear character in experimental, both in surface expression and shape style. but in China ,where ceramics originated in, it seems there are less mordern ceramics design works in market, that is why? in last year, the designer XieDong who made bone porcelain for Driade,is one of Chinese artist who have taken porcelain to the world .

昨天看到旅游卫视里的一个节目，主持人在弗洛伦撒度周末，拜访了当地的一名“医生”：调香师。他能根据你所叙述的记忆来调配只属于你的香水，独一无二。他一定知道在某个时刻的某种特殊味道，一定会引你走进记忆的森林，如同陷入普鲁斯特的似水年华。

昨天买的书乔治·奥威尔（George Orwell）上来透口气Coming up for Air / ，昨天看到这本书的时候，我先是被作者的大名吓到，奥威尔，《一九八四》和《动物庄园》，这两部书我是屡次想看，却又屡次拿起来又放下的“名著”；但之后，就被这版的封面吸引，这么好看的封面摆着就舒心。果然，幽默温暖，特别喜欢结尾，“可是，真他妈的，我要知道选择哪种就好了。”
一个四十五岁的中年男人，在找寻过往与未来的故事。喜欢他写的在林子里，在阳光里，在沼泽里的钓鱼时光。

Ornamented Life

Ornamented Life by Joana Meroz “完美无缺是有些乏味的”毛姆先生总是这么“刻薄”地说话。关于Ornamented Life和设计师目前没有查到太多的东西，知道的很少。他们的网站貌似出了问题，查不到信息。
关于他们的设计，不仅仅是再利用的问题，或许更多的只是他们一种态度的表达，和英国设计师cjoneill的设计组品很相似，并不是消灭不完美，重新创造，而是让这些不完美以另一种形式继续存在，继续各自的故事。宝贝与垃圾，美丽与残缺，甜甜圈的洞，相对与偶然。
